Privacy Policy

At Selah, we take your privacy seriously. This policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when you use the Selah app or our website.

What stays on your device

Your favorites, preferences, streak dates, reminder settings, and other choices are stored locally on your phone. This data is not encrypted at rest on the device. Selah works offline once installed. Reminders are scheduled on your device — we do not send them from a server.

Cloud backup

When cloud backup is available, Selah creates an anonymous session (no sign-up screen) to sync profile fields, favorites, and streak dates to our servers through Supabase. We do not collect your email or password for this. A secure sign-in token is stored in your device Keychain or Keystore. We may also record when the app was last opened (no devotional content) to understand general usage.

When you contact us

If you use Contact us or Suggest a feature in the app, or the contact form on our website, you choose to send your email, subject, and message so we can reply. Messages are processed by Formspree. We do not use those forms for marketing.

Analytics and diagnostics

We use Google Firebase Analytics and Sentry to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. This may include anonymous usage events (such as screens viewed or features used), crash reports, and non-identifying preferences like your theme or font choice. We do not sell your data.

Content delivery

Some features, such as Listen mode, stream audio from Cloudinary when you are online. These requests do not include your devotional content or personal notes.

Our website

Our marketing site is hosted by Vercel. The site itself does not use advertising cookies. If you submit the contact form, the information you provide is handled as described above.

How long we keep data

Local app data stays on your device until you delete it or uninstall Selah. Cloud backup and usage timestamps are kept while your anonymous session is active and for a reasonable period afterward so we can operate the service. Contact form messages are kept as long as needed to respond and maintain our records, then deleted or archived.

Children

Selah is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International transfers

We are based in the United States. If you use Selah from another country, your information may be processed in the United States or where our service providers operate. We take steps to protect your information consistent with this policy.

Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal information. We share data only with service providers that help run Selah (such as Supabase, Formspree, Firebase, Sentry, Cloudinary, and Vercel), when you direct us to (for example, by contacting us), or when required by law.

Your choices

You can delete local data by uninstalling the app. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of cloud backup tied to your anonymous session, contact us via the in-app form or our website contact page and we will respond within a reasonable time.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Our legal bases include performing our contract with you (providing the app), our legitimate interests (improving and securing Selah), and your consent where required (for example, when you contact us). California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents may request to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; request deletion; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of Selah after changes means you accept the updated policy.
